About Candace VanScyoc
My passion for animals started with a tumor-filled hamster, lovingly-named Teddy. Hundreds of dollars, an amazing surgery, and one life-lesson later, my parents had instilled in me a love and respect for even the smallest and fluffiest of animals! The rodents I love most here in the Children’s Zoo now are a little larger (and a little less fluffy!) than my childhood friend Teddy – our North American Porcupines! Finding me is usually not too difficult, as I’m either playing with our creepy crawlies, giving a show at our Butterfly Pavilion, or, of course, training our porcupines.
