And I thought looking after my sons aquarium and the balancing of the fish and feeding and water conditioning and water temps etc … was a feat! What a wonderful thing for someone who is possibly retired and at home to be able to do. It would be very interesting I would think. Great Blog.

Thanks so much for such a great story. If only there were more people like him.
But then, aren’t you kind of like him?? Fascinating to see what goes into life at the zoo. As Paul Simon once said, It’s all happening at the zoo.” Those people who swim with the piranhas are daring and brave. Nice to know they are not killers…… but still. I’ll watch from shore.

I know both Pat and Paul and there is no exaggeration about them being such special people. I have enjoyed knowing them and I am so pleased to see articles coming out on Paul and Pat. Both deserve the fine recognition they receive. Paul knows alot about roses too. Pat is a gracious hostess.

Actually, reading about Paul’s dedication (and clearing up that bit about the piranhas) again makes me wish I lived closer to the Houston Zoo. I’m beginning to feel as though I have a “fish-eye” view of some of the tasks I’d be doing if I could only volunteer! And I must admit those orange raisin cookies sounded delicious . . . maybe if I were armed with one of those in the piranha tank, I’d put on a brave front, knowing the fish would choose Paul’s cookie over, say, my arm.

I’ll be sure to visit this site again so I can read about Pat. What would non-profits do without people like this couple?
