About Summer Davis
I have been a part of the Houston Zoo family for 4 months now! I started out as a volunteer prior to that, but quickly realized that I needed to work here so that I could be around all of these animals on a daily basis. So when the Education Department needed a new assistant, I quickly jumped on the opportunity. Since then I’ve gotten to feed a giraffe, have a cheetah walk through my office, hold a baby alligator, get up close to an 8,000 pound elephant and I survived my first summer camp! I feel so lucky to get to be a part of an organization that is doing so much to not only educate people about animals and how we can conserve them, but to also get to know the animals themselves because each one has a unique story. There are many animals that I am very fond of here, but my favorite is probably Jonathan the lion. His story is what keeps me motivated to doing everything I can to inform and educate the public about why our work here at the Houston Zoo is so important.
