About Martha Petre
Hi there! My name is Martha Petre and I started working at the Houston Zoo in September of 2009. I'm lucky enough to be an Education Programs Specialist here, which means I get to spend time with kids AND animals -- the perfect combination! I came to the Zoo from a previous job at a preschool in Austin, TX, which I traveled to all the way from Buffalo, NY (where I grew up). I have loved my time here at the Houston Zoo, but I’m still getting adjusted to the hot, humid temperatures as opposed to several feet of snow. I have, however, acclimated well to being surrounded everyday by impressive, amazing animals and I enjoy sharing my growing wealth of knowledge with anyone who will listen!
