About Leigh Whitted
I've been at the Houston Zoo since June of 2008, when I jumped into the education department feet-first and mid-Camp! As an Education Programs Specialist, I share my passion for animals and their environment with infants in strollers, seniors, and everyone in between, both on zoo grounds and around Houston. I have an unusual fondness for organization, which has been put to good use managing camp supplies and keeping our education library in check.
Don't be surprised to see mentions of birds in my blogs - I am a true bird nerd, binoculars, bird book and all. I also have a soft spot for llamas.
I am a former wild zoo child who never really wanted to escape the animal way of life. I started teaching people about animals as a kid, and never looked back! It is always a treat to see my own childhood love of animals reflected in the faces of the kids (and grownups) I teach.
