So all that food is great, but what goes in must come out. The next part of the morning routine is cleaning the yard. Kevin heads out into the yard in search of poop…
Next we’re off in search of the prize. Overnight rain means everything is a little bit mushy.
And here are our spoils for the whole day – if only I could have gotten t the Smell-o-Vision working…
its a dirty job
Oh wait, I think I found one more pile
and that's why they pay me the big bucks

ahh good times. Reminds me of “Poo Patrol” every Saturday morning at our house cleaning up after our dogs. I make the kids hold the bag…having a pet is a family affair
clean up, clean up! Everybody everywhere… clean up, clean up. Everybody do your share!
You gotta scoop that poop!
Yikes! It’s a dirty job…….but somebody’s gotta do it, right?
I’m sure the critters appreciate your efforts.
As a petowner/lover, and pet-sitter, I am all too familiar with the less appealing “dooty duty”!!!!!!
Bless your heart for your care of our most precious wildlife.
I will trade ya!! I have poo patrol for 22 chickens, 3 rabbits, 11 goats, 4 cows, 5 horses, 1 donkey, 1 pig (and his chicken), and 5 dogs (including the Anatolian that lives with my goats)
But I’m sure all the other things with that job is so rewarding, so you got to have something to give you a reality check!!!
Hi Kev!, I am glad to see you hard at work! LOL
I used to like the idea of having big animals as pets….
Have you heard the saying?… “A dog sees the human feed them, love them, pick up their poo, and care for their every need. So they think, ‘Wow, they must be God!’ A cat sees the human feed them, love them, pick up their poo, and care for their every need. So they think, ‘Wow, I must be God!’”
ha!
I want to go to the zoo and see first hand! Woohoo!
I love that the final blog is a reminder of why being a professional caretaker for animals is just not for everyone!
You’ve got to be willing to take the good with the bad!
Looked so much better “before”! I am sure the animals truly appreciate you.
Shoot, no smell-o-vision! Was looking forward to it.
I will be coming to watch first hand on 9/23. My husband is taking me to the Houston Zoo for the first time! I am so looking forward to it!
Lots of people are jealous of our jobs but they won’t know the whole picture. There are messes to clean up, we work outside in bad weather, and we work weekends and holidays – good thing the rest of the job is so rewarding!
Thanks for all the comments this week. I’ll continue to include more behind the scenes information in future posts.
This is why I don’t have any big pets. Having three kids to clean up after is enough! LOL
WOW! Sure glad I only have one dog to pick up after LOL
My son would love to see all this up close though… well not the poop, but the animals that caused it
